Wavelength
Michael snow may very well be my favorite filmmaker of all time.
I find it odd that wavelength is often created as only an experiment film when in fact I would consider wavelength to by my favorite piece of narrative horror of all time.
Snow applies the format of a structural film to create a murder drama with an intensity not just rivaling those films within that space but ,in my humble opinion, surpassing them. Snow uses zoom, color and sound to display the emotion of the narrative almost entirely through the camera to unbelievable success.
For Snow to not only suggest but to prove that the camera itself can be the primary emotional driver of a film. That the mechanics of the camera itself are more than just a delivery method for ideas but instead the camera is the canvas itself is nothing short of genius.
Wavelength is not an experiment for that would suggest it was merely a test. I believe wavelength as more than proven its hypothesis.
Even now cinéma is in its infancy
