Sinners
It took 4 watches but I am finally caving and giving this the 10.0 rating that it deserves.
Round 4 overall, but round 3 in the glorious IMAX 70MM format at the wonderful AMC Lincoln Square. After each watch I’ve grown to appreciate this film more and more. As of the most recent watches ,both in the last week, I can truly state that to enjoy this is to enjoy the theatrics.
Sinners went above and beyond for its audiences. There was a reason why the fanfare exploded when it first released and why demand for re releases has not relinquished. The big screen is an experience and Sinners was curated with that magic in mind.
My last two watches, at home and now today, have put this into perspective just that much more. This story and experience is overflowing with passion. You can see how obsessive Coogler was in creating something meaningful and memorable. To do all of this in a genre like horror is exceptional.
While I don’t care for vampires much, Sinners has grown on me and I will be so excited to see their team accept award after award in a few weeks.
