The Lighthouse
Just one of the best atmospheric environments ever is this world that Robert Eggers and company has crafted taking place in New England during late 1800’s that’s shaded in a black and what that becomes fascination and misery together throughout the decent. To me this is otherworldly acting that meets a visionary director who is dominating anything period related since 2015. The language, the symbolism with parallels to mid-century art and the exploration of male skewing psychosis makes this the type of film I seek out. Eggers takes the tools of the modern age but remains committed to capturing the authenticity of the time regardless of the painstaking amount of research and commitment it takes from everyone. One of the few definitive masterpieces that’s released in the past 5 years in my opinion.
