Spider-Man 2
“I believe there’s a hero in all of us that keeps us honest, noble and finally allows us to die with pride. Even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the things we want the most. Even our dreams.”
Wow. I never saw this as my favourite, and believed it was overrated for the longest time, but I don’t know what happened on this rewatch. I’m in complete awe. It’s by no means my favourite Spider-Man film, but it’s one that completely understands this character. It’s sincere and brutal in all the best ways. Raimi did the impossible and managed to make a sequel that not only expands upon the first but also surpasses it in almost every way. There’s so much to unpack and it’s impressive. I’m in love with the filmmaking on display. The camera movements, the transitions, cinematography, etc. it’s all amazing. They really don’t make CBMs like they used to.
Oh, and Vindicated was the best song they could’ve used for the credits. Perfect.
