Twixt
Note: I watched “B’Twixt Now and Sunrise: The Authentic Cut”
My 18th film in my halloween marathon and one more jump into Francis Ford Coppola’s filmography as a preparation for “Megalopolis” and what a surprise I had.
Intense, sentimental, personal and beautiful. Twixt is a film about loss, grief and guilt. Francis Ford Coppola directed it with some great experimental camerawork.
I don’t know the difference between the theatrical version and the director’s cut but I don’t think I would‘be loved this movie as I did if I had watched the original version.
Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern and Elle Faning were fantastic in their roles.
Creative and beautiful are the best words to describe the visual aspects of this project. It felt like I was reading a poem with some digital art that worked in a marvelous way.
Coppola is ambitious, a genius and between all his films I think that Twixt is his most intimate piece of art.
This might be a hot take but I feel like this is one of the most magical movies I’ve seen in a long time.
