taking out “a lonely room” is actually crazy work when you still use the music in the dream ballet sequence, but that’s besides the point i guess. oklahoma, you are something special. i am eternally fascinated by the gender politics that are present, and i feel like i noticed even more on this watch. can’t wait to spend my entire second semester in grad school doing a dramaturgy project on the stage version of this, and hopefully i’ll still be able to talk about this filmed version. shout out to the golden age of musicals for being so beautiful. also, i showed this to my roommate and next on our list is gonna be seven brides for seven brothers bc i feel like these films are cousins for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
