Sentimental Value
This is such a beautiful, heartfelt masterpiece. It does such a wonderful job at showcasing family as a whole and really highlights the issues that families go through. Whilst also deeply going into passed on trauma through one family member to the next.
I think the performances here are stellar everyone really shows why they deserved to be cast. Stellan Skarsgard and Renate Reinsve are clear stand outs here really showcasing the emotional intensity of the characters really showing each of there traumas and Renates performance really showcases here isolation and how lonely she is. I also really need to bring up Ingas performance when she is going through Gustavs mums history and really serves as a moment of realisation for her on why there dad has had such a troubling relationship.
I love the idea of the script of Gustavs film is the turning point and a moment of realisation that he always noticed what Nora was going through and how this is the moment of an emotional change in character arcs.
Overall this was incredible and really emotional.
One more small thing I also love how they showcase independent filmmakers dealing with studio control and the troubles in the future of the film industry.
