Arrival
“If you could see your whole life from start to finish, would you change things?”
Absolutely beautiful. I find something new within this film and within myself every time I revisit it. A film about first contact with an alien species but a film about the beauty of life for all of its ups and downs, for all the happiness and sadness that comes with it, and make it what it is. Life is a beautiful and precious and worthwhile thing
The one thing that was always stand out to me is the use of music in this, and what is my undisputed favourite film score of all time. From the way Jóhann Jóhannsson utilises the human voice in his score to represent the communication of the heptapods time-language, to the tender placement of Max Richters In The Nature of Daylight.
Denis Villeneuve. Jóhann Jóhannsson. Amy Adams. Three of the best in their field to ever do it, all at their best. A rare generational and timeless film.
