Django Unchained
The moment I heard that sound track I knew this would be one of my favourite films ever and one of the best films ever. Despite this being a recent success in Tarantino's career this has that classic Hollywood style, that appeal. If only Ennio Moriconne Could’ve worked more on this. Jamie Foxx had that same Charisma as Clint Eastwood. This film is the definition of cool. From the exordium Tarantino’s idiosyncrasy gushes from the first killing or piece of dialogue until those credits play. The story of a slave-hero is incredibly meticulous and well-crafted. The premise has to be one of the most gripping and riveting ever. The character development of each and every character arc is compelling and coercive throughout. Showing the changed in Django title but not his morals or sentiment. Django is THE perfect character. Christoph Waltz delivers and unsurprising masterful supporting performance while still being sublime and perplexing. His characters nuance and prodigious quality is on par With Hans Landa in Inglorious basterds. The execution of the premise is just as vital as the concept itself. The way Tarantino and his team do it effortlessly, without taking the novelty away from it, needs to be studied in every film school. This is also his highest grossing film. It shows how to please all audiences whilst earning money. This is my favourite Samuel L Jackson performance. He plays his character to perfection. Now onto the standout, LEONARDO DI CAPRIO, really showing of his versatility and range. Intimidating yet menacing is the best way to describe. He should have won for this. How is it possible to have an ensemble cast as great as this? Samuel L, Leo do Caprio , Christoph Waltz, Walton Goggins, Kerry Washington ALL giving Oscar-Worthy Performances. The Screenplay is touched up to perfection while still keeping the raw emotions and story beats. This SHOULD have swept the Oscars that year. The action was flawlessly visualised in classic Tarantino fashion. The whole film is beautifully shot, not to be movie, to be an experience. This film is an experience, a powerful, moving spectacle.
