The Exorcist

"mother, what's wrong with me?" watching this when mentally ill just hits different. i don't mean that in a fetishized way but it makes reagan's possession just hit closer to home. that feeling of knowing something is wrong but you doubt yourself so much that you don't trust your intuitions or think you're making too much of a fuss. knowing something is wrong but no one takes you seriously enough for you to receive help. the relationship between kinderman and karras is so cute. i love how important their friendship ultimately is in the sequel. lee j cobb has slowly become one of my favorite performances in the movie. he has to play so many different notes and could be a sleazy character but is ultimately so charming.
