Anora
i have a confession to make: i don’t think i really appreciated this film to its full extent the first time that i watched it. of course, i was completely mesmerized by it and i absolutely adored it upon my first watch but i feel like it wasn’t until a second watch that i really FELT it if that makes sense?
so so obsessed with the little touches that separate ani from anora; i think my favorite is the use of the hair tinsels to showcase how she’s feeling - when we’re introduced to ani, her pink hair tinsels are so flashy and one of the first things that stand out, but obviously given all she’s endured within a single day, they fall out or become more concealed, ridding her of something connecting her to ani the dancer …. idk it was all i could focus on i’m just yapping!!! the ending also completely brought me to tears this time around, utterly heart wrenching. also love all the close ups of mikey madison that truly allow her wordless acting to come into play. she truly managed to convey so many thoughts and emotions simply through eye work …. need her to win on sunday or i may riot
