Sinners
discourse on twitter was talking about “that one scene” but i fear i don’t know wtf they were talking about … genuinely i’m confused like there were SO many scenes that had me completely hooked and had me feeling like that “cinephile <3” meme like omg movies are so back!!!!!
everything about this is just so enthralling, but i think above all, the camera work, the visuals, and sound all stand out to me like … completely and utterly obsessed. there was never a dull moment in this movie, and while it certainly serves as a form of entertainment in the sense of a “horror” vampire movie, wow it was so much more than that. at it’s core, it is such a beautiful depiction of the power that music had during such difficult times in history, but it also goes even further and does a phenomenal job at showcasing how simple it is to take the “easy” route in life by falling into the temptations of sin, especially when they arise during the lowest points in our life, or when we are most vulnerable; it also serves as a reminder though that these temptations have no real control over us unless we allow them to do so or in this case if we “invite” them in … absolutely obsessed. also kind of embarrassing that so much of my knowledge of vampire lore comes from the vampire diaries …
but truly such an amazing film, i would watch it over and over again in a heart beat, obsessed with every second, especially those musical/dancing numbers … omg.
