watching this a second time was so otherworldly and somehow still felt like i was watching it for the first time … the symbolism in this film is absolute perfection and contributed to a successful rewatch, because truly, it feels like everything that is presented before us has multiple meanings and interpretations. i genuinely need ryan coogler to release a book containing all of his notes for this film because i am absolutely obsessed with the way that his mind works. using vampires as a representation for white people sucking the culture of black people and using it to their own advantage while continuing to treat them as less than … omg. the snake being killed in the beginning … remmick’s introduction being him stumbling to the ground and then encountering a clueless couple …. the biblical parallel is insane. obviously there’s so much more but these two stood out to me so prominently during this rewatch that i’m just so!!!! this movie truly makes you feel every emotion at once, i’m not surprised that it’s stirred so much discourse, but on that note, it does make me so happy seeing people who may not normally go to the movies gushing over this one, feels like a moment of union through cinema!!!!
