Lost Highway

200TH DIARY ENTRY OF 2025.  Lost Highway gets better every time I watch it. I’m accepting this as top tier Lynch now.  I’ve had this film on my mind for the past few days, so what better way to celebrate 200 diary entries this year already? Every once in a while, a particular Lynch work pops into my head; a random episode of Twin Peaks: The Return, a short film, interview, etc; and it’ll remind me how much of an effect his work has had on me. There isn’t a better filmmaker out there.  Lost Highway is incredible. Obviously Lynch was inspired by film noir and the O.J. Simpson trial, but it’s a film so original that it serves as the greatest testament to Lynch’s practice of transcendental meditation. Watching Raging Bull has actually increased my appreciation for this, since that’s a film that also touches on toxic masculinity, sexual insecurity and atonement, albeit in different avenues.  Absolutely incredible. Highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. I’ve dove further into cinema than I ever have this year and everything I do comes back to David Lynch. Best to ever do it.
