I wasn’t really connecting with this for a long time until a certain scene happened, then I was interested. Then came the scene with Anna in the subway, and it started to come together. If anyone could take anything away from this film it’s Isabelle Adjani‘a performance, I can see why Lily Rose-Depp took so much inspiration from her in Nosferatu because it is a fantastic performance deep-rooted in polish acting theory. Glimpses of H.P. Lovecraft also help strengthen the film. It very bleakly reflects the socio-political state of Eastern Europe at the time and that’s very interesting. Maybe one to rewatch someday.
