Liberal Arts
Maybe it's because this is the first time I've watched this while not in school (except in 2020), but I did not get much out of this watch. Found it more annoying and childish than usual, and supported mainly by Richard Jenkins, who is the anchor. I appreciate the sentiments here and it was very nice to hear them articulated and debated as a youth, but I can't imagine being his big age and making this. Wrestling with getting older, being afraid of being disappointed by life, having an addiction to nostalgia...all was kind of perfected by Lorde with Ribs in 2013 and hasn't been improved on since. Still, I wish anybody was at least trying to make something this sincere and well-meaning, just without all his eyeroll habits.
I will say happy 35th birthday to Elizabeth, but mainly only out of an obligation to tradition.
