Interstellar
Ambition can be the crucial hinge on which greatness will balance, more so than elsewhere than in cinema. Some films can fall under the weight of their own expectations into obscurity, whilst others— like Interstellar— will soar, using scale and scope to push forward into the forefront of modern filmmaking. I genuinely, truly think that you have not experienced film to the fullest, to its truest form, if you have not experienced Interstellar on the massive IMAX screen. Today was the single greatest theater experience of my life. Like, I was literally in space. In another galaxy. I drove to the theater and ended up saving human civilization in interstellar travel. I was levitating, dude. Unbelievable sequences that had me pinching myself. I left that theater elated, in such an insane state of euphoria and shock. I genuinely think it has ruined my theater experience going forward, because NOTHING is ever touching this level of life-changing, undeniable technical marvel of a film.
-Love has meaning, yes. Social utility, social bonding, child rearing...
-We love people who have died. Where's the social utility in that? Maybe it means something more - something we can't yet understand. Maybe it's some evidence, some artefact of a higher dimension that we can't consciously perceive. I'm drawn across the universe to someone I haven't seen in a decade, who I know is probably dead. Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space. Maybe we should trust that, even if we can't understand it. All right Cooper. Yes. The tiniest possibility of seeing Wolf again excites me. That doesn't mean I'm wrong.
