Phantom Thread
what a vicious depiction of love.
phantom thread is not a love story, and after two watches of it, i'm unsure if it's even a story about people in love. these are two deeply flawed individuals, each in their own way, yet they work together. one is a man who works himself to exhaustion, the other a woman who wants nothing more than to nurse him back to health. for that reason, they love each other. when he forgets that love, she violently puts him back in his place to remind her of what she does for him. is this healthy? absolutely not, but neither are all relationships.
don't even get me started on the use of color in their outfits and how it tells of their character.
