Nowhere
Do I still hate THAT scene? Yes.
Was it as painful as the last two times I watched this? Yes.
Do I think it could have been done a less agressive way? Absolutely.
Has this film infected my brain completely? Yeah, entirely. I can't get it out of my mind.
I've come to the conclusion that not giving this whole masterpiece of a film 5 stars just because of one scene that makes me uncomfortable is straight-up unfair.
This film is one of a kind and has infinite potential to be rewatched. It's the exact perfect time, where nothing is wasted, and it's so chaotically achieved that you can't ever get over it.
The Egg subplot has thematically grown on me, even though I still insist it could have been handled better, it's such a tragic tale in the midst of this chaos that it fits too well for it to be just discarded. And the themes of this are just, perfect. I've never seen a director who can capture the dichotomy between angst and passion, between romanticism and sexuality, between hope and dread, in such a immaculate way like Gregg Araki. The feeling of watching everything around you go worse and worse, and still cling into the warmth of those flimsy socially constructed ideals.
I'm staying way too late considering the time I have to get up tomorrow, but damn it, if there ever was a film that is worth the lack of sleep, it would be this one.
