Thirteen
I recently watched Lords of Dogtown which I also loved, and after rewatching Thirteen, not only has it cemented itself even further as one of my favourite films of all time, but it also shows just how great Catherine Hardwicke is at fully exploring the energetic and dark space of teenage experience, specially the experience of those teenagers that come out of already disfunctional families and/or living conditions.
Both Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown have this raw unstoppable energy that is so masterful. The way the camera breathes and moves around frantically, or how the color grading changes drastically and follows the tragic journey of emotions of its characters, it's all so fantastical in a way but at the same time because it's so grounded into the teenage experience, everything feels so real.
Honestly, they would make one hell of a double-feature, but in my heart I'll always prefer Thirteen 100%, it is just such a twisted but genuine experience that I don't think could ever be replaced or remade, and the rewatch was even better than I could have ever imagined.
