The Thing

Boy oh boy oh boy oh boy, I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO VERY MUCH!!!!!! John Carpenter is right up there with Wes Craven, George A. Romero, and Tobe Hooper as being one of the greatest horror filmmakers ever. After his HUGE success with Halloween, Carpenter decided to blend science-fiction and horror in such a beautifully haunting way. Perhaps he got inspiration after Alien came out in 1979 and wanted to make his own scary little sci-fi horror extravaganza. I watched the original film that this is a remake of last night and even though I really enjoyed it, this movie blew it out of the water in almost every regard. I cannot even fully comprehend how much love I have for this movie, the acting is fantastic, the writing is great, the music emits such an eerie feeling, the cinematography is picturesque, the special effects are simply OUTSTANDING, and the direction is absolutely superb. There’s also some very good jump-scares in here, I especially love the scene when they conduct the blood tests to see who’s a thing or not. Anyway, I always have a great time watching this and will forever and always cherish this film. I honestly cannot believe this came out in 1982, everything in this movie looks and feels so genuine.
