Shame
97/100
as far as character studies, directorial control and message go, this movie cannot be beat. Sure it takes its time to do so and can be extremely graphic, but it never feels like it’s done without a purpose
steve mcqueen has done 3 movies which are some of the tightest written and punch a powerful punch every time you watch it
I’ve seen it 7 times now so you could say I’m obsessed
I know so many men trapped in sexual addiction with no one knowing the pain of what they’re going through and it is not healthy. This movie exposes people for the sexual struggles they go through and it is humbling to watch. It helps you care about and empathize, too.
Also, Carey Mulligan doesn’t get enough credit for her work here. She’s fan-freaking-tastic.
