Babylon
what a movie. i expected to like this, but i did not expect to fucking love it. a clear love letter to cinema, on par with once upon a time in hollywood, if not better. this movie had me hooked for its entire 3 hour runtime. and i thought the transition from silent films to sound films and the effects it had on the actors was done really well. but i shouldve expected that from the man behind la la land, and whiplash. chazelle is genuinely one of the greatest directors of this century, and i cant wait for his new prison movie. brad pitt is delightful as always, margot robbie gives her best performance to date as nellie laroy. diego calva was incredible, and i hope we see him in more films in the future. all in all, this is one of the greatest films of the decade, and theres no doubt in my mind this will become a classic in the coming years
