Babylon
93%—•—i unfortunately missed this in theaters and when it went on paramount + i had to watch it and i finally had time to watch this. it was so good, but i’m not shocked it underperformed at the box office due to it’s story and runtime. it targets a very specific audience… and i am that audience. this was so chaotic and funny that i was left speechless after some of the things that happened in this movie. the directing and cinematography were absolutely stunning and beautiful throughout the entire film. the score was my favorite part and the way the score evolved throughout the film was amazing. also, the similarities between this and La La Land were really funny since the director and composer are the same for both. the costumes and production design was fabulous as well. the acting was stellar especially from Margot Robbie and Diego Calva. i was entertained from start to end, and the montage of Singin’ in the Rain and other films was really beautiful and a nice touch to end the film. yet another film that depicts the transition from silent films to talkies but in a modern and very dark way.. and i love it.
this is basically the fabelmans x singin’ in the rain + a whole lot of drugs.
