“Rock and Roll is a risk. You risk to be ridiculed.”
It’s been almost a year since I’d last seen the film, so it was time again. Although it’s only been a couple days since I last listened to the soundtrack.
And yes, it finally is a 5 star film! Perfect cast, superb dialogues and characters, one of the best soundtracks of all time, one of the best film brothers, heartbreaking both in terms of the family drama and the romance, emotional and incredibly fun. The film is so effortlessly funny while having a lot of raw emotions and handling a couple themes very, very well.
I love this film with the whole of my heart! And Eamon is amazing!
This is something I picked up on all three times I’ve seen the film now and I’m positive I could be wrong. Abusive parents and dysfunctional families play a big role in the film. Conor’s parents, Barry’s parents, Eamon’s father and Raphina’s parents. When Raphina talks about her father, I always get the feeling there are subtle hints at him having sexually abused her prior to his death. It’s a mix of what she says and the way she says it. I couldn’t be totally wrong and there might not be any implications for that, but I got that feeling every time.
