whole time i thought this was about the bjork stalker

this was kinda my first time really watching anything superman related and honestly it was a good entry point, he didn’t feel like some untouchable hero, more like a real person with powers who still cares about people, it was colorful, light at times, serious when it needed to be, and it never felt too dark or heavy, it actually made me get why people like this character. david corenswet really sold that mix of kindness and strength, the villain had some depth without being cartoonish, and the humor wasn’t forced though a few moments felt a bit stretched, the flying scenes didn’t click with me AT ALL but nothing that ruined the experience. for a first proper superman experience this worked well, it felt hopeful and easy to follow without needing to know all the history, it’s not a perfect movie but it made me interested in seeing more from this world which i didn’t expect at all. 2025 ranked

ari aster really went for something different here, and it actually works, it’s like a dark, twisted western set right when the world was starting to fall apart during covid, joaquin phoenix is basically dragging you through this whole mess, and you kind of hate him and get him at the same time, it’s uncomfortable in that way aster loves to make things uncomfortable. the movie isn’t loud with its message but it’s definitely there, you see all the paranoia, the blame games, the conspiracies, the “i’m right, you’re wrong” energy that was everywhere back then, and it’s cynical as hell but somehow still funny in the most messed up moments, it shows how people can be fragile, stubborn, scared, and how that just brews something ugly. also can't believe katy perry was his breaking point.. it’s shot beautifully too, all dusty and quiet and heavy, like a storm about to break, and the cast really sells it, phoenix obviously, but even the side characters felt like they belonged in that slow burning chaos. 2025 ranked

celine song did it again, love how it digged into stuff like love, control, and self worth without being cheesy about it, the whole thing with lucy stuck between the guy who can give her everything and the one who actually loves her felt grounded, it had humor but it didn’t undercut the emotions, the characters felt real, layered, and actually written with care. visually it’s really nice, subtle and easy on the eyes with calm cinematography and clean editing, nothing flashy but it works, the pacing is just right too, never felt dragged or rushed, and the sound had this soft, almost asmr vibe at times that pulled me in, the cast clicked well, the chemistry felt natural which made the whole thing flow even more. what i liked most is how it doesn’t try too hard to please everyone, it’s a bit slow, yeah, but it’s human and kind of bold in how it looks at modern dating without sugarcoating, it’s thoughtful, warm, and has that quiet confidence that sticks with you after it ends, i’m glad i watched it without letting other reviews color it, feels like a little gem. 2025 ranked
