Nan Goldin is such a badass!!!
She weaves the story of the grief for her sister, her grief losing her friends from the AIDS epidemic, her own drug addiction, and her fight against the Sackler family into a story of resilience, rebellion, and ultimately victory!
ACT UP! is one of the most inspiring movements of our time and it was amazing to watch her invoke them in her work against the Sacklers.
the story is heart wrenching but it reminds me that we have to fight our fights as if it were life or death because it is!!!! we have to bring our authentic selves to our art and to our fights for a better world.
all it takes is a small group of people to give a fuck to really change the world.

J'avais envie de me replonger dans ce film après mon passage à Paris et ma découverte approfondie du travail de Nan Goldin au Grand Palais.
Je reste submergée par sa démarche. Documenter sa vie, le quotidien des communautés queer et marginalisées, un travail vu comme narcissique et inutile par les élites de l'Art à l'époque. Mais aujourd'hui, c'est notre Histoire qui se déroule dans ses photographies.
Pour ne jamais oublier nos adelphes - placé•es en institutions à tort, maltraité•es, assassiné•es, ignoré•es en pleine pandémie, censuré•es.
Pour laisser des traces, faire entendre les voix queers, protester contre les élites qui tuent tous les jours impunément au nom du profit. Ne pas les laisser pervertir nos institutions culturelles, libérez les Arts, faire de nos vies des œuvres.
