this is like a combination of It’s such a beautiful day and adventure time. Its visuals are really cool and it’s so so so amazing. I love the character of Barber and the script is great. Nothing else to be said.

Jonni Peppers is easily becoming one of my current favorite animation directors of all time.
The animation is absolutely amazing, the soundtrack is super great, the pacing feels satisfying, the voice acting just works perfectly, and almost all of the characters are so endearing. As for the story, there’s so much that happens in this film in which it feels like there’s interpretation for people to think about. But to me, Barber Westchester is a vibrant yet beautiful coming of age film about Barber, the main character, longing for comfort from the issues in her life.
Barber got into astronomy and space because she just wanted an escape from the personal problems in her life and to be great at something. When Barber got a job at NASA, she thought that this was what her life was all leading up to. But she was told that everything about space was all fake and meaningless. Ultimately making everything that she worked so hard for, worth nothing. Understandably stressed out and afraid, Barber is wanting for another answer to help deal with her personal problems. Through interactions with a handful of characters, she learns that confronting the problems in front of her is the best way of helping to resolve them. When she finally does, her life makes more sense to her in a way and finally feels comfortable living. Even when holding back on the past and future, Barber knows that everything will eventually pass from her life and enjoys the one she has now.
Just a marvelous masterpiece of a gem that people should absolutely give a watch at least once in their life!! ❤️

Great movie about finding purpose in the world when your own mind is against you and dealing with the existential crisis that follows your whole worldview collapsing in right front of you. The movie isn’t for everyone, and some scenes aren’t that necessary, but overall a great work.
