The Communion Girl had some aspects in its favor: rural setting, 80s background and somewhat engaging characters. Unfortunately, every good thing is ruined by an undercooked story that is capped off with an insulting ending.
You see the doll, and you might wonder if it another typical horror film with a haunted toy. Not so much, because the doll is almost like a prop and doe snot have any importance to the development of the plot. Then, what is then? Well, not much, to be honest. There are not many scares, which is a sin in a horror film, and when those happen, they're a letdown.
I rarely say this kid of ting in a movie review, but I truly felt disrespected by the end of The Communion Girl. Its resolution is absolutely horrendous and basically renders almost everything we've seen over the past hour and a half useless. If you decide to introduce a new villainous force in the last scenes of your movie, it's already a bad decision, but at least you can make it worthwhile by justifying your decision, which Víctor Garcia does not. After the movie was over and the lights came on, I asked myself "Why did I waste my time, then?".
