ROQYA puts the audience through a mob-mentality witch hunt, further fueled by social media; with an Islamic context within the French urban class. Farahani’s sitting in that clinic realizing that her “witch app” is nothing compared to this “permissible” exorcism clinic run by a man was everything. The chase scene through the housing estate was palpable and akin to other classics such as ATTACK THE BLOCK, INFESTED. Unfrotunately, the film has an abrupt ending which does troll the viewer momentarily, but doesn’t quite contribute to the film’s general mission statement.
