A devastating documentary following British veteran Harry Turners journey in the Amazon rainforest. Many times throughout the documentary you get to see the bold contrast between his severe depression and newfound love for the Amazon and its inhabitants. It’s inspiring, adventurous and entertaining. Harry is dealing with PTSD but ends up falling in love with the jungle and an American scientist he meets during his stay. I definitely do recommend, I wouldn’t say entertaining but it’s not boring, but again, still worth the watch.

Is this not the cutest backdrop you’ve ever seen?
This was a real emotional, harrowing and intimate documentary. It was really well made. I admire the work Harry and Samantha had done. You couldn’t pay me a million dollars to live in the Amazon rainforest and care for an ocelot, despite how adorable they are.

“Healthy & Wild.” As we should be.
There is a feral beast within us all. It is only through valuing love, care, healing, & discipline that we have any hope of taming this beautiful half of ourselves.
Many will surely decry Harry’s behavior as inherently monstrous or toxic. & while it wasn’t always the prettiest sight, I saw in him a tortured soul seeking sanctuary after being put through a living nightmare. Talk therapy is certainly of great value to our society, yet we forget that it is not an end-all cure. Healing also comes from living your life & doing so through following where your heart takes you. I believe he made the right call in the long-term.
I hope both he & Sam have found the healing they were both in need of since their time in Peru. Sam even more certainly made the right choice with her life & it seems to have paid off for her. She didn’t deserve to be drawn into his internal torment like that, but her own greatness really shined through it all.
Sometimes people are brought into our lives for reasons other than we expect. I feel that her relationship with Harry taught her a lot & reminded her of what she really wants & wants not for her life. I hope the same is true for Harry.
Oh & it was really cool seeing people & wild creatures interacting so lovingly together. That part was nice too.

the first 15 min crushed me. The analogy is fucking insane. You’re taking a man who’s been to war in the “wild” and is having a hard time coming back to society and finding himself. Then you’re comparing that with a wildcat who’s been so somewhat domesticated and is having trouble getting back into his own society “the wild”
I want to spend a year of my life doing this somewhere…
