What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? is one of those films that somehow manages to be unsettling, tragic, and weirdly entertaining all at once. Bette Davis is absolutely incredible as Jane, constantly switching between pathetic, terrifying, and almost childlike in a way that makes you never quite know how to feel about her. The relationship between Jane and Blanche is what really makes the film work, with years of resentment and bitterness slowly spilling out as the story unfolds.
I loved how claustrophobic the whole film felt. Even though most of it takes place inside one house, it never becomes boring because the tension just keeps building. The ending left me feeling surprisingly sad too. Beneath all the horror and psychological cruelty, it's really a story about fame, aging, and being unable to let go of the past.
A classic that completely lived up to the hype.

this is truly camp horror and amazing hagsploitation i love a well written, complex, interesting relationship dynamic between two characters that isn’t defined by the story and writers being like “HEYYY LOOK AT THIS CRAZY OLD LADY SHES SO SCARY AND CRAZY HAHA RIGHT?” truly great motivations and mood built here by very straightforward storytelling. also this has like SUPERRR great suspense, i loved the camera work. 

this is at the precipice of horror having stupid reiterations of tropes that are explored often here (crazy old ladies, evil sisters, twists and turns) and it has paved the way for so much of what we have today. it was super cool as a more like modern horror watcher to see so much of what makes some of these stories kinda dumb to me be truly innovative and compelling here.
