Acclaimed for his unfiltered reporting and deadpan humor, Andrew Callaghan brings his gonzo style reporting to the undercurrents that led to the January 6 Capitol Riot. As one of the best-known and hardest working journalists of his generation, the 25-year-old ventures on a wild RV journey through America to take the pulse of a divided nation.

It's January 6 right now in Australia so I'm taking a look back at the USA of 5 years ago and wondering how it has gotten even worse. By no means is Australia perfect but at least our political system isn't so diseased and I attribute that mostly to our voting system being mandatory and preferential. The documentary was pretty funny but I'm sure it's a lot bleaker if you actually live there.

Andrew Callaghan is the man, for having both the patience and understanding when interviewing these severely delusional MAGA meatheads. The only ones I feel empathy and sorrow for as opposed to frustration is the Spencer family depicted here and their children, because they seem genuinely innocent, but misguided, misinformed and looking for answers. Also, bookending the documentary with the Florida Joker guy really nails the absurdity of it all and the postmodern nihilistic world that it often-times feels we live in… anyway, great reporting and I’m glad I discovered Channel 5.
