Interesting topic but this doc really doesn’t do it justice, everything felt very surface level and kinda brushed over even with the 90+ minute runtime. Makes me wonder if this would have been better suited as a short doc.

Sundance Film Festival 2023 #9
It’s amazing to see such talent in a documentary film like pianoforte. The way that we get to spend time with all of these musicians is great and I really enjoyed seeing their home lives. My one big complaint is that it jumped around too much and too quickly to the point where when we got to understand and meet someone a little bit better it immediately jumped to the next person. I always love music documentaries and this was an ok one but most of it was fun to see. My other complaint is that it also felt super long. I’m not sure why but it just did. All of the final performances were immaculate and I loved the music that was being played. Also how can you not like a movie that starts with a Tame Impala song.
