A shotglass' worth of early tokusatsu goodness. I can't tell if Golden Bat is supposed to be pure good or good bad with his maniacal laugh, but it makes for quite the entrance each time. Most of the combat is poor, but there is one stand out scene of Golden Bat fighting on top of an airplane. Very cool. I think the movie ends up constantly fun because the rest of the cast carries the story forward when Golden Bat is missing. The intergalactic threat was the perfect mix of good-bad. You know your movie is prestige when you have a rocket claw.
This is a very fun movie whose really only flaw is that it's in black and white and we don't get to see Golden Bat.
