Whilst usually i love to leave witty one liners to review movies that i enjoyed or found interesting, i feel within the context of this film, i cannot do so. I feel that would be me attributing to making a mockery of a historical travesty, an ethnic cleansing and as its best known a genocide.
The more that we venture into the next four years of the 21st century, the more parallels i draw back to the 30s and 40s in Germany. Whilst the film is not historically accurate by a wide margin, it did show the aftermath of small band resistance in a dictated nation. It ends with blood and it ends with death.
It shows with utmost integrity the consequences of far right nationalism. To see ideas of this resurface in the modern world is heartbreaking. From the creation of Reform in the UK a Nationalist Party whos manifesto lies on evicting foreigners and takes a very racist approach to policy to the tropical tyrant in one of the most powerful nations in the world. Its a terrible time to be alive as we witness the resurgence of dictatorships and madmen.
