“I’m Trip Lefkowitz…And this is ‘Stapling my friends nuts in my garage’”
I was kindly emailed an early screener link by the director and writer Alex Kugelman, which I’m very honoured to have received!
DON’T TRIP (which is Kugelman’s debut film) follows Dev, an aspiring and struggling screenwriter who’s just been fired from his assistant job, Dev hatches a plan to become friend’s with a powerful producer's troubled nepo-baby son (Trip) in order to sell his script, when his plan are found out the things take a different turn…
I personally found the comedy used throughout this film entertaining especially the daft dialogue from Trip like “Michael Phelps used to hang. We rip bong. He’s a beautiful boy” amongst many other jokes
I felt that there was a slightly different take on the horror aspect as it felt more thriller than horror until the final act but it definitely had a sort of “Creep” vibe throughout with the interactions between Dev and Trip from the beginning so maybe I just thought more violence than psychological horror but definitely doesn’t discredit how great of a film this is, especially for a debut film that was independently funded and produced!
Looking forward to showing to friends on November 7th when it releases on Tubi! 🍿🎬
