Dreams of Home really is a live poem; an encapsulation of a feeling through words and not through a story.
I really liked the weird marriage between the real footage and the the "cut-out" style elements that were edited in. In a way it really felt like little big planet, but here it had a purpose, and kept building and building beautifully until it reached the logic conclusion.
When I say this works more like a poem than a short is about the way that presents it's ideas. The message is not an end that we get through a narrative, but instead the experiences of the main character are acknowledged by us via his words. The imagery lacks diversity, benefiting from the 5 minute stamp, but it's nevertheless effective in what's it trying to achieve.
The expression of nostalgia and how it eats us away from within, just making itself show when we are hollow, and the feeling of being a shadow or vessel of whom you once were are the core of this short, making myself hopufull for the future of Justin kaminuma
