These two need to stick to non-fiction, cuz in fiction you don't have place for scenes like what happened to that poor dog. You aren't censoring if you are creating the story. Don't get me wrong, a big applause for mixing non-fiction elements with fiction, but in fiction you have a certain freedom to edit and touch up scenes and when its something brutal showing actual violence, you can't be excused by the viewers to just let it be what it is as you shoot it.
