A film celebrating the intersex community and challenging common perceptions about gender. Julie Cohen allows her three primary subjects to tell their stories to the camera, having the viewer look them directly in the eye and hear their personal struggles of fitting into a world that tried to cover up their existence. It’s an effective technique that draws profound empathy from the viewer, and it certainly captured all of mine.
It’s a shame that I was the only one in the auditorium at my theater but it really is an important film that should be seen/supported. Truly eye-opening and deeply moving.
