A staggering act of communal art, historical eclecticism, and truly singular production design. Much like the Spirited Away play from earlier this year, I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like this in the theatre. It’s an exciting vision of American culture through its songbook, a radical retelling of how the American people reflected war, racism, genocide, dreams, love, hate, and everything in between through performance. And this is just from a very abridged two hour cut!
