French horror does it best. Promenons-Nous Dans Les Bois is a low-budget slasher, and it sure looks like it, but even within its limitations, this movie is one hell of a good time. It’s pure 2000’s horror: it’s got style, gore, eccentric characters and a nice gothic atmosphere. Some of the acting is not that convincing and the ending could’ve been better executed, but the telephone scene was legitimately scary, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t get scared easily. It’s not a new classic, but it’s a great movie for what it sets out to be, and I think more people should know about it.
