Back in 2022 I was almost on the classic Brittish TV show 'Come Dine With Me'
I had the producers in my living room going over my plans and laughing literally 48 hours before we were set to shoot. Then I got a call. Some higher up person had decided I lived too far away from the other contestants and that the logistics sucked, so they kicked me off the show. They sent me flowers and were very apologetic, but the damage had been done.
They had ruined their shot at filming the greatest ever episode of British television.
On 'Come Dine With Me' contestants take turns at hosting a small dinner party for all of the other contestants in their home. They cook a 3 course meal, put on entertainment, and do all the other host things.
My plan was to answer the door wearing my frog legs, cook up a 3 course meal (scallops, chateaubriand, creme brulee), and then put on a one man play in my livingroom. That one man play would have been a recreation of this very short. I had large framed posters made of myself that I was going to give out as gifts to each guest. Each picture had me in a strange position/pose. I had planned to throw bottles at anyone who asked for sparkling water instead of still.
I have clips of the audition/interview I had to do to get on the show. The woman was dumbfounded.
One day, they'll be very upset about their decision.
