Conej Steps Out on a first glance looks like it’s a love letter to the more traditional gaffes and gags of the early Merry Melodies and Looney Tunes era, but in the end combines so much of hand-drawn animation history in order to create something that feels like so much of a blend of all of the styles that it comes off more like a 90s parody of the former. This is not a bad thing, in fact it allows for Conej Steps Out to be bombastic in ways that align with modern day sensibilities that at the same time aren’t so overly obnoxious if only because their inspirations are made so clear and laid bare
