this movie broke me. rita is such an observant and smart kid. playing the older sister role, always trying to protect lolo in her own creative ways, helping and understanding her mum despite being only 7 as she explores her own world. i had to sit down for a while and gather my thoughts after watching this, it left a hole in my heart... and her mum.. she has endured so much. throughout the movie, it gives us hope of freedom and emancipation as the mum tried to find more informations about divorce. i didn't expect that ending but i'd like to think of that as a snap to get back to reality. i couldn't even bring myself to clap right after the movie finished because i was too shocked
can't help but to think about my family after i watched this. i wish my mum can enjoy her own life, find her own hobbies and communities without ever feeling restricted just because she's 'a mum', 'a wife', and is expected to do domestic works
