While I hadn't seen the first film, Too Old For Fairy Tales 2 makes it clear that the information from that film isn't all too needed, especially after reading up on the events that happened in it. Our main character from the first film, Waldek, is spending time away from the city to have quality time with his mother, his aunt, his two best friends, and his mother's new boyfriend. The presence of the boyfriend character shakes things up enough to where the already-established characters can instead explore different aspects of their relationships with one another, which helps to make this film stand on its own without having to see the first one. As Waldek hunts to find a father he had never known, we get to see how other characters fare with one another. There is some fat to the story that could be trimmed, especially since the lighting isn't doing the film many favors, but overall it's a harmless and light, fluffy film that is able to hit emotional beats adequately enough.
