"MY KNIGHT IN GUYVING ARMOUR!" we shout in unison.
Yes, this is getting the same rating as 12 Angry Men, The Shawshank Redemption, Parasite and all of the other films I've rated 5 stars. This is my account, and I have good reason.
Woke up very early to be ready for Anzac ceremony, plus had a lot yesterday. Watching this late past a 17th hour of being awake and sorta falling asleep through some of the more boring scenes (no film is perfect). Then I see Sean (the lovely David Hayter) is getting ready to jump off the cliff and turn into the Guyver again.
No amount of caffeine will ever compare to the sheer awakening and amount of energy I felt surge into me at that moment. Something powerful in this film picked me up by the collar and spoke to me, "Thank you for sitting through some of the drawn out context, it may have tired you but you'll come to appreciate the highs even more after you experience the lows". I had already just seen The Guyver 1 before this and I was already having so much fun with the major improvements, so what could even be next? Nothing could've prepared me for how immensely entertaining and impressive the action would be from Sean's leap off that cliff to the credits.
As a sequel to The Guyver, masterpiece. As a very low budget film, masterpiece. As an action film, masterpiece. As a superhero film, masterpiece. Amazing what can happen despite the limitations when you have a vision to realise. Now I so badly want to see a 3rd Guyver filled with even more passion, talent and budget.
