Mostly just forgettable melodrama, which considering this a Chaney/Browning collaboration you'd at least expect something bizarrely interesting at least. The eastern exoticisms isn't doing much favors either. Chaney's good here, but definitely not one of his better performances. It exists, which is more than what I can say about a significant portion of Chaney's films, so there's that.
