I want to praise the performances and the direction of this movie because wow, it’s very good but also very understated. Michel Franco has this ability to block the camera and actors in the scene that makes it feel so real that it’s uncomfortable. The film is not at all interested in making a glossy portrayal of its characters, which further draws you in to the lives they’ve lived and where they go next.
