Either Tyler Perry has never driven 1hr 45min or the timeline of this movie is all kinds of fucked up. I didn’t think this movie was very good but everything with Ava’s dad was gold and the funeral scene at the beginning was a wild mess (positive) of stress, absurdity and dark comedy that I’ll think about for a good long while.

with how crazily overdramatic and predictable this is, i would’ve expected this to be the black version of telenovela. and that would’ve been extremely fun and entertaining. sadly tyler perry’s writing is very bad to a point, no matter the talent, every single scene feels lifeless and dull. but i will say there are moments in this that are intriguing in a funny aspect. it’s just that the rest of the film has hardly any personality.
